SiteMap Editor Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • After I have tried to prevent some users from seeing a subarea using SiteMap Editor

    I get this error.

The problem is I have not done a backup before this change.

The last back up has been done about 4 weeks ago. Can I use that back up to import again the site map. I have undone the changes  and I still get the same error message. Is it possible to  import only the site map from the old backup and how ?

    Thank you very much

  • Import your backup solution in a new organization (e.g. CRM 2011 online 30 day trail) Create a new (unmanaged) solution, just include the sitemap and export/import this solution.

You could also just import the sitemap from a 'clean' organization and recreate the sitemap. Just create a new organization and a new solution. Include the sitemap and export/import this solution.

  • You could take the sitemap from a backed up unmanaged solution to fix the issue.    You can see the cause of the error if you run a trace too.  I recommend downloading and getting a trace via the diagnostic tool.

  • Thank you for the reply.
How exactly can I take the sitemap from backedup solution and nothing else?
I don't want to import into the system anything else but only the sitemap on its own. the reason for taking only the sitemap is that the latest backup is about 4 weeks old and this would change things i don't want changed.

    Thank you.

  • Depending on how much your sitemap was "customized" before the backup.. you can also revert to default sitemap.. if you download Sitemap editor tool from http://sitemapeditor.codeplex.com/.

But if you dont want to revert to complete default.. then go with Ronny's proposal.

  • This happened to my yesterday and I was able to fix this issue in less than an hour. These are the steps I took if you want to proceed in another way towards a solution:

    1. Downloaded XRM Toolkit
    2. Loaded the environment by creating a new connection
    3. Clicked Site Map Editor
    4. Loaded Site Map for that environment
    5. Clicked the More Actions button and selected Reset 2015 Update 1 Sitemap to Default  (Whichever option you select will depend on your environment version)
    6. Clicked the Update Sitemap button.
    7. Refresh your CRM environment a few times and you should no longer receive that error
