  • Question

  • I have imported the orders with Order IDs etc.

However i want to know import the order products related to those orders.

When i try to import them, i get errors of 'Lookup reference could not be resolved' first for the existing product then for the Order ID

I was trying to inport the product via the order number which seem not to work

    any help will be appreciated

    Thanks

  •  'Lookup reference could not be resolved' for existing product because the system cannot find the "order product" productname in product catalog. The product catalog should be setup with proper  pricelist before import. The product name should be exactlty the same in product catalog and in "order product".

OrderId problem-- you don't need the orderid to import the records, you need the order name to resolve the lookup.

    I hope this helps

  • Thanks for the reply

I want to use the Product ID to lookup the product tho as this is what we use in business system for the orders

Is there a way of making that happen?

  • Yes, but not using the CRM Import Wizard. You would have to use a third-party data integration tool instead. Here's a list of options: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/integrate-microsoft-dynamics-crm.aspx.

  • Hi Neil,

Am I understanding you correctly that it is not possible to use the default CRM import wizard for importing orders with orderlines?

If so, then I'll stop trying to get these in for my situation with this default functionality; I have about 3600 orders in which every order has 1 to 3 orderlines that I want to import if possible with the standard import tool. All the products, pricelist (with pricelist items) are imported already, as well as the accounts and contacts. I've also created an additional field 'ordernumber other database' and put them both on order form and order product form; as a text field on order form and as a lookup (to order) on order product form.

To do the import, I've first exported the 2 template files for order and order product and put in 1 order with orderlines in both templates as a test and saved it. Then I zipped it as a zip file and went through the import wizard. I checked all the fields, especially the look up fields, for instance:
    - Order product form: lookup to products with reference to ID only
    - Order product form: lookup to order with reference to textfield 'ordernumber other database' only

The import of the order itself works fine, but the orderproduct not. It refers to an error message:

I checked the formatting of the fields that were filled in on the order product template and they are all correct. So, I get the feeling that it should be possible somehow...
All in all, is it just not possible through the standard import functionality or am I missing something here.
If you need more info, please let me know.

Tx in advance for your time.
