please add list filtering to "move thread" forum selection RRS feed

  • Question

  • As moderators, we often need to move posts when they are posted in an incorrect forum. Since there is a massive list of main forums, it is very cumbersome to move threads right now. I spend more time looking for the correct forum in the list than anything else.

It would be nice if this list could be filtered as you type, so for example one could type the world "visual" into a textbox, and the listing of possible forums to move to would be filtered down to only those containing that word.

This would make moving threads to the correct forum much easier.

  • I have the same problem. I move to SharePoint forums (at least halfway down the list) and to Off-Topic (even further down the list and more difficult to hit as in a very small section)

However your solution while useful isn't what I would really like to see.

What would be even nicer would be if we could specify our own List of forums that we want to be able to move threads to.

Version Two of that list could include forums in different "systems" (TechNet; MSDN; Microsoft)

  • I personally never had a problem with the way it was implemented in V3.  Type the first letter of the forum name, hold it down for a bit if necessary, press Enter, done.  It takes me 5 times as long now.

  • Mike, I am down for whatever works and they are willing to actually implement. You idea sounds great, mine was just one I figured they would possibly consider since it would not be a major undertaking to get going.

  • We're on the same page, Matt

Yours is a good idea. I just thought it would be a good idea to add the next request (for after that) early!

(I hoped that (yours, then my v1  then my v2) was clear from my text. Obviously not.)
