had my laptop repaired now getting win7 build 7600 windows not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • My laptop came with windows 7 already installed when it was new and it stopped working so i took it to be fixed at a shop, they told me the harddrive had to be replaced so i let them do it. No i have this message in the bottom right corner and when i turn on my laptop it tells me the activation code is invalid. So i called the shop and they tell me to enter the key on the bottom of my pc and i did this and it still says the code is invalid. Can someone help me? I think if they replaced my harddrive then the key on my pc wouldnt match the new harddrive.

  • Go ahead and enter in the key. It is only when a key is installed and after a hardware change occurs that you will get those notifications. Enter the key now and activate online. If not, then activatre using by phone. If you were to change a piece of hardware later than you would get deactivated and notified of non genuine software. Just enter the COA key and you will be fine. Any issues than just replay to this post.

  • Windows is using the COA key, It appears they forgot to tell you to and how to activate it.

Lets try activating it by phone by doing the following

    1. type "slui 4" without the qoutes in the search box of the start menu, hit enter.
    2. on the resulting screen select your country or region
    3. dial the number provided, when the computer answers DO NOT press any keys, this will force a real person to answer.
    4. Activate by phone according to the technicians directions and all should be fine.
