Oppertunity not linking to contacts in CRM 4.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Scenario:

    CRM 4.0 clients on Windows 8, IE10, Office 2013.

The CRM clients are using the browser rather than Outlook. When creating the opportunities they are including a pre existing primary contact.

The problem is that when they save that opportunity there is no opportunity recorded in that primary contact. It was working until recently.

I do not admin the CRM server side myself and think I am getting a dodgy response from the admin "sometimes works sometimes does not".

    Question:

Is the above a known/standard issue with CRM 4.0 that sometimes works sometimes does not?

  • Try the same process by admin privilege role . If error not resolved change privilege of the user.

Hope this helps. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Santosh Bhagat If this post answers your question, please click "Mark As Answer" on the post and "Vote as Helpful"

  • Multiple roles, and clients are facing the issue. The administrator role gets the same issue. The admin that is charged with looking after this is telling me its standard which from my experience it does not seem to be. What I am trying to do is to confirm that this is / is not a known/standard issue with CRM 4.0. Working to migrate to CRM2011 next year and want to make sure we are not bringing technical issues with us.

  • In what field are they adding the contact record?  The opportunity record should show against the record that is added to the "Potential Customer" field in the Opportunity.  Since fields and field names can be changed in a system, you will want to check the field through the customizations to ensure that people are adding the Contact to the appropriate field.

To answer your question specifically, no, this is not a known issue that I am aware of. Having said that, there are many known issues that I'm not aware of ;)
