Unable to access Fix It Center online using IE8

Question
-
When I try to access the fix it online center with my computer using Vista and IE8 I get the following error message:
The Windows Live Network is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons: - This site may be experiencing a problem
- The site may not be a member of the Windows Live Network
When I access the site with the same computer and Firefox, I can access the site without any problems. Similarly I can access the site with my Windows 7 computer and IE8.
Any suggestions?

For another purpose, I deleted my 'Browser History' - however this time I deselected 'Preserve Favorites Website Data'; something I had not done prevously. Next time I accessed the Fix-it site, it displayed correctly and has been working properly for the last two weeks. I then did the same to my other affected computers and now they display the Fix-it site correctly.
I shall give this a little longer before proposing this as an answer!

Hello,
Thanks for reporting issue. To help you troubleshoot this issue, do you mind if I ask you to help try 2 things:
1) Similarly try to access www.hotmail.com or other site using Live ID site (e.g. using this forum) from that same computer with IE8.
2) On IE Menu, go to Tools->Internet Options. On the "General" tab, click the "Delete..." button under the "Browsing History" section. This will bring up a "Delete Browsing History" dialog box. Select "Cookies" and "Temporary Internet Files" only, then click the "Delete" button. See if that might resolve your problem.
Let me know.
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I can access all other windows live sites with my Live ID using this computer (with IE8)
I have deleted 'cookies' and 'temporary internet files' and I still get the 'Live Network Unavailable' error message. It does not solve my problem.
I should mention that I have the same problem when I follow the links in the downloaded Fix It Program (downloaded via Firefox).
Regards

Hi,
Please advice how to contact you for troubleshooting offline - don't want to publish email address on forum.
For further information, I have successfully accessed Fix It online on a second Windows 7 computer without any problems
Regards

I have investigated this a bit further and find when I look at the privacy report icon at the bottom of the page, I find that cookies are blocked for the Fix It website and I can not unblock or allow these cookies.
I have right clicked on the site in the privacy report and checked 'allow cookies from this site', I have selected 'low' on the internet options - privacy tab (allow all cookies) and I have added the Fix It site to my trusted sites. But I still can not properly access the Fix It site and the privacy report tells me that the cookies are blocked.

Strange thing, yesterday I had to reinstall IE8, the first time I used IE8 I went to the Fix It online site and it worked perfectly. Some time later when I reopened IE8 and went to the Fix It site the original problem had returned.
It's a bit extreme to have to uninstall and reinstall IE8 to make this web page work. I have to use Firefox for this site, which is a pity because I much prefer IE8.
I should also have mentioned that I have Spyboy and Microsoft Security Essentials installed on this computer, but also they are installed on my Windows 7 computers, which can access the Fix It Site without any problems.

Judging by not having received responses, am I the only one experiencing this problem?
I now find that I have this problem on my 2 other Windows 7 computers (32bit Professional and 64bit Home Premium). Also Firefox has given up; I not get exactly the same error message as detailed in the original post. When Firefox tried to access the Fix-it site, I initially kept getting a message something like "You are trying to connect a secure webpage over a non secure connection" I kept pressing 'continue' but the "you are trying...' message kept coming back until I finally got "The Windows Live Network is unavailable...."
I started to investigate with a Microsoft Technician, who suggested starting the computer in "Safe Mode with Networking". In this mode, I could access the Fix-it Site correctly. After the Technician suggested disabling Services and Start Up Programs and re-enabling each in turn until the problem reoccurs.
As this is time consuming and would have to be done on 3 different computers, I have decided to wait for the Fix-it site to come out of Beta and see if I still have a problem.

I have run into the same problem using IE8 and Win 7. FF works.

I tried what you suggested to no avail.
SeymourTuesday, July 20, 2010 6:01 PM -
What worked for me was:
Deselect 'Preserve Favorites Website Data"
Select 'Temporary Internet Files'; Select 'Cookies'; Select 'History'
This will ensure that the contents of all four items are deleted; which seems to have solved the problem for me.

The only thing I didn't empty was Cookies and I do not want to have to recreate the ones with banking etc. In the other topic, I did ask specifically which specific cookies I should delete - no answer was given

Before deleting my cookies, I made a backup. Using IE8, Go to Favorites >Add to Favorites >Import and Export >Export to a File > Select Cookies. You will be able to save your cookies to a file and will then be able to import your cookies at a later date (although I did not re-import my cookies, as they could have been the cause of my problem)Tuesday, July 20, 2010 7:04 PM

Thank you - clearing the cookies solved it. I'll re-enter the missing info.

You should add that Cookies should be deleted too. This was not clear in your first answer.
