The problem I'm having only seems to have happened today. I was restarting my computer because
Folding@Home was having problems but I noticed that the entire logoff interface had changed from the normal three buttons for standby, shutdown and restart and had changed to the old combobox of options and when I did restart the same is true of the logon interface. Now I am forced to use the welcome screen where I wasn't before. Disabling the Use Welcome screen option in User accounts has no impact whatsoever. Is this part of an update? I had an update that was waiting to install but installing it has made no difference.
I do apologize if this is the wrong place to post but I couldn't find a topic on any of the microsoft forums that is dedicated to Windows Update or even the problems of Windows in a general fashion.
