virus scan never finishes...

Question
-
I have had one care since 6/07 and have had minimal problems.
I have 3 computers on one care
I have not added any programs to the computer in question - nothing has changed, but now tune up hangs at the virus scan. Scan started at 5pm and I left the computer on all night. When I checked on it in the morning, scan was at 2%.
Please advise what to check...I can see the file name changing - it appears to be doing something - just unbearably slow
Thanks

Since you mention that the files are changing, so scanning is taking place, however slowly, tells me that this post doesn't refer to your problem of a stuck scan - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2770411&SiteID=2
This post, http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2707364&SiteID=2, more closely resembles what you are seeing, though you shouldn't be if you are on the latest version of OneCare - 2.0.2500.22. Open OneCare and click Help/About - what version do you show there?

Although you didn't change anything on the PC, there have been a number of Security Updates to Windows.
Do you recall when the scan last proceeded normally? Was it the last Tune-up of a month ago?

My version is 2.0.2500.22
My last successful virus scan was 3/10/08
My icon is green, everything is up to date and my status is good, but I cannot get it to scan and soon i think my status will be bad...

Is it still running, or did you cancel yet? I suggest canceling and then rebooting the PC. Later on, when you can spare the time for another go, run a tune-up manually or a scan, and see if it performs better. If not, I think it may be a good idea to contact support.
