Windows won't reboot, multiple errors RRS feed

  • Question

  • Before this morning, my computer has ran flawlessly for years now. But this morning I found it unable to boot up. When booting with the windows xp disk, none of the options work (safe mode, etc). Since then, I have used the setup disk to try to reinstall windows (it won't recognize the disk even though it used it to boot). I have also tried repairing my boot.ini, but when using the bootcfg /rebuild command it fails to scan disks for windows installation. After that I try running chkdsk to see what's corrupted and my computer freezes. I've gotten errors saying my ntldr file is missing and my hal.dll is corrupted.

I don't have much more information than that at the moment. If anyone had any suggestions, I would be appreciative.
