Suggestion: On-Demand Threaded View

    General discussion

  • I realize that the forum Settings option allows me to select chrono or threaded view. In most cases, I find threaded view messy and hard to read; I thus keep chrono as my default.

However, sometimes a long thread gets convoluted and becomes difficult to follow. For those cases, it would be nice to be able to toggle to threaded view for that thread only, right on the page, without changing the global default and without it affecting any other thread.

It would be okay if the temporary setting was lost if one navigated away from the thread; it's what I would expect.

  • Yes, IMHO the threaded view is not suitable for general use, mostly because it is not possible to see at a glance which are the most recent posts. But occasionally, it would be useful to be able to see who replied to whom.

  • I'm 100% with David on this. (Which makes me with Will and Naom too just not quite so exactly.)
