The Live Mesh version of 'Blue screen death': Error 00000040,5 RRS feed

  • I notice a number of correspondents have reported this.
    I have LM installed on this laptop [In Sydney Australia] and on two workstations on my home network in the UK.

    1. I've been able to remote connect to both workstations on several occasions.
    2. Both workstations have been rebooted in the last 48 hours.
    3. Station [one] still works fine. Station [two] reports error 00000040,5. Rebooting [hard and soft] appears not to work.
    4. The Devices screen shows both machines are online.


    Any suggestions?

    We've seen a large number of people reporting this error recently, and we're looking into it.  It would help if we could take a look at your logs.  If you wouldn't mind collecting them (instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums) and emailing them to lmprev@microsoft.com, we'd appreciate it.  Please mention the error code in the subject line of your email.

    I suspect that the logs you really need to look at are on the machines in the UK - which I can't currently get to!

    If you feel the logs on this laptop are of use, I'll happily use the repor-back mechanism for that. Let me know what you'd like me to do. I note that an LM update arrived this morning and I updated the laptop. I tried to access the workstations under the new version - same error.

    Let me know if you want the laptop logs.

  • Well this is a tad weird:
    I came back to this, this evening - and all is OK!
    For information:
    1. Laptop version is 0.9.3103.9 and (I now know) the version on the workstations was 0.9.3103.2
    2. I've now updated the workstation to the latest.
    3. I feel sure this isn't a problem related to versions.
    4. Will my sending the logs (as per instructions) for both the laptop and the workstation help here? If so I will put my username plus the error code in the email along with the log coming from each, in order that you can relate one with the other - as I will be sending them to you from two parts of the planet.....
