I stupidly changed a computer from domain to workgroup without taking any precaution and am not able to login to windows xp? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I recently changed a computer from domain to workgroup computer using the computer name option in windows XP. I am now not able to login to windows. I got this computer from work few years ago (not stolen!) and recently was playing around with it and changed the default domain type to workgroup to allow fast user switching to make it load faster. But now I am not able to login to the computer anymore. The main problems are listed below,
*No option to change to local computer or select any domain name in the login window.
*Administrator account not enabled. Single user name that was created on the domain name.
*I don't have the windows disc or the product key to perform a repair.
I know one of the options is to contact the IT in my old company but that would be a long procedure as I am in a different place now. I would appreciate if anyone could help me somehow.

  • I think re-installation could fix the issue . If u dont have , then plz get a new one.

And if you have some important data stored at your hard drive , make sure you backup your data so that it can be recovered later using a data recovery software.
