Vista Ultimate Validation 64 bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Got a nice problem this weekend while working. Tried to download an application from download center and the validation routine destroyed my windows license. (I guess there is something odd with the validation control on that page).

Did i loss one of my MSDN activations by doing this?

So if i would like to download HTA.. how would i do it since i don't want a repeate of this?

These are the steps to reproduce.

    1.       Vista 64 Bit Ultimate. Running for 7 months.(Activated and everything works fine)

    2.       Tried to download (HTA Helpomatic) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=231D8143-F21B-4707-B583-AE7B9152E6D9&displaylang=en

    a.       Says validation Is required, (Goes through with validation downloads active X controll. )

    b.      It says my windows version isn’t genuine!!!

    3.       Goes to genuine site, and it says my windows has to be activated!.

    4.       Goes to properties in Computer, it says my windows is activated

    5.       Restart.

    6.       Windows goes into reduced mode. Basic theme…

    7.       Runs slui.exe 4

    8.       Activates by phone, says everything is ok.

    9.       Reboots

    10.   Still reduced

    11.   Goes to Genuine advantage site, tries validation fails. Has to be activated

    12.   Windows is still activated

    13.   Reboot

    14.   Still reduced

    15.   Goes to Genuine advantage site, validation works.

    16.   Reboot

    17.   Everything ok
