  • Question

  • I purchased my Acer laptop from my local Currys (a major retailer) in March 2006, and I have recently been recieving messages that my Windows XP copy is counterfeit even though it came installed when I purchased the laptop. I ran a Diagnostic Test that I downloaded from the Microsoft website and these were the results:

  • Fenchurchmark,

I'm glad you got your windows issue resolved... I do have bad news about your copy of MS Office.  You have a non genuine copy. I would advise you taking it back to your retailer and resolving that issue as soon as possible.

  • Fernchruchmark,

First, go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag and run the tests. If all of them pass, then re-run the diagnostics tool that you downloaded to get the above information. After you click continue, on the bottom left, click the resolve button. No matter what the popup message says after it is complete, restart your computer and finally, re-run the diagnostic tool one more time. You should be set.

    Let us know either way.

    Thanks!
