Locked User Profile Cannot See USB Storage Devices RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a requirement for a user account locked down by steadystate to access a USB storage device (usb pen drive) to be able to copy log files from the computer on a regular basis. I have NOT enabled any usb restrictions from within steadystate. However, when the user plugs in the usb pen drive it does not show up in "My Computer". If I logon as the administrator the same usb pen drive is visible. When the user logs back on it is still not there.

Why can the user not see and get access to the usb pen drive? Is this a permissions issue as the locked user profile is not an administrator?
Is there something else I am missing here?

I ain't getting on no plane - fool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi, this issue may occur if the restricted user does not have permission to install USB device driver. I suggest you temporarily elevate the user, plug in the drive and install the driver. After that you can change the user's permission and re-check the issue.

    Hope this helps!
