Relation and dependencies between the MSDN/Technet profile and the other MS accounts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

since some years and with an increasing momentum, the number of profiles and related accounts used by the MS eco-system (incl. the Shop and W10) have increased.

Could one of the admins pls. explain here how these different accounts are glued together and what data is used where?

    Regards Jörg

  • I think it's fairly simple. An MSDN/Technet forum profile uses a microsoft account for the authentication mechanism. So it is a one-to-one relationship and the forums profile is dependent on the microsoft account.

Your forums, galleries, wiki and or blogs contributions get summarized here.

A microsoft account is also used to authenticate OneDrive, Skype, MSDN subscription, outlook.com, Azure, Office 365 (and probably others) but they're unrelated except that they share the same authentication service.

You can logon here to see more info about your microsoft account(s)
