A better way to verify accounts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

As of now, verification of accounts requires one posting a request in a "Sticky thread", and waiting for... some time.

    I am wondering:

    1. Is the verification process automated, or is it handled manually?

    2. Why isn't there any less painful method (judging from frequent comments)?

    3. Is there any way we can relieve Richard Mueller and Mike Laughlin (at least) from responding to the threads?

  • I believe the process is manual, handled by contractors. But I doubt Microsoft would do anything to modify the system now, since they plan to migrate all TechNet and MSDN forums to the new Microsoft Q&A site later this year.

I don't know if the new site has a similar process to verify accounts. Dave Patrick may know more. I have seen a few spam posts in the new site, but very few. They do have a report function to flag any spam. I noticed that the spam was gone shortly after I reported, but I had no indication if anyone else had also reported.
