WHS where clients are on domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.  Can I use WHS where the clients workstations on are on a domain?

I'm not trying to make the WHS server a domain controller, just want to know whether the WHS client will work running on XP Pro workstations logged to a domain with AD (some other domain, NOT whs).

The clients would run on XP SP2/3.

    Thanks in advance!

Answers

  • Yes, you can.
Proof:  I'm running a Server 2003 (SBS 2k3) domain here.  Several workstations (XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, and Win7 (RC) Ultimate) joined to that; all are able to join the WHS without issue.
Standard WHS practices still apply, though - username & password should match between client and WHS accounts.
