Datetime and Timestamp to track changes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

In Visual Studio 2008, we can generate a LocalDatabaseCache, witch use Synchronisation.

I saw the generator use Datetime types to track Insert and Update change on my table.

Bu i saw a lot of samples where Timestamp is used instead..

So what is the best practice ? I assume Timestamp is better, but we can't use it in LocalDataBaseCache Generator Wizard ??

Thx per advance and excuse me for my poor english

  • Hi Sébastien

It is better to use timestamp. The SyncDesigner (aka: local database cache) gives you the option to use either timestamp or datetime.

    Thanks

  • Which is better if there is a DB failure and a DB needs restored? Does it matter?
