ms money 2004 updated tells me my USB is full

Question

I am using the UK updated MS Money 2004. When I try to back up to a USB stick it tells me my USB is full and requests the next 'disc'. I am using a 16GB stick which is empty. Any ideas?

Anything larger than 2GB is not recognized properly in the older versions of Money's backup routines. Solution: somehow insure that your USB stick has less than 2GB of free storage space or use a USB stick no larger than 2GB.

Thank you for this. I am confused as I had updated my MS MOney to the last UK version (similar to the US Sunrise) and assumed that there would be no problems with this. Is there a workaround?

The solution was the workaround. As an example - copy a 14GB movie file onto the USB stick. When I stated "older" version, that just meant anything other than Version 17.

Another trick is to use another tool that can create a mountable device from a "file". One of such tool is TrueCrypt:
- Use TC to create a mountable device that use a file a on the USB stick. Make the device smaller than 2G.
- Mount the new device
- Use the new device for money backup
- Bonus, your backup content will be encrypted.

By default, Money 2004 will not write (backup) to any USB stick that is larger than 2 GB.

Agreed. I have done this myself.
