I have an older PC (Athlon XP w/ 1GB ECC, Seagate 120GB, and a new Samsung 1.5TB attached via SATA controller card) which I thoroughly stress tested before installing WHS on it. I used Prime95, MemScope, and Heavy Load for several hours each (P95 and Heavy
Load work fine on WHS). So I successfully installed WHS, and it does not seem to complain about anything. BUT...whenever it tries to do a backup, it goes OK for a little while, and then the server freezes. The backup never completes and I always
have a red "Critical" WHS icon in my system tray. The system also randomly crashes sometimes, generating a Send Error report message.
I looked in Event Viewer, but it didn't seem to offer much detail. I looked at Device Manager, no issues there. The BIOS is not reporting any overheating on the CPU or any odd voltages. The Console app says the disks are healthy. I don't
get it.
