Install issues with WHS on Nforce1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Installed WHS today on the Asustek A7N266-VM. As we all should know, nVidia never produced drivers for the nForce for Windows2003. That being the case the only major issue I had was with the network driver, which no matter what I tried simply would not work. The solution was to purchase a pci network card, which now has enabled my WHS install to appear on the network. So if your thinking of using that older nforce1 motherboard for your WHS, expect difficulties.

  • I installed WHS on an Nforce 2 motherboard (uses the dame driver as Nforce 1 in every OS). Just install the Windows XP drivers, it works without problems!

  • I had tried that actually. Through the use of those drivers I was able to get the smbus device working correctly, however the ethernet would always fail.

Possibly the WHS team could backport the nforce1 drivers from Vista?

  • Have you tried windows update ("custom" button)? Windows Update had a driver for my second ethernet.

  • That is a catch-22 situation. You cannot access windows update when you don't have ethernet.

  • oh, I thought you had a second ethernet port as I have. sorry

i looked up your motherboard and found this ethernet driver, it's for XP but should work fine with WHS too.
