Renite Access Set up RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since I am asking dumb questions, I have another one regarding setting up remote access to the home server. With both V1 and 2011  versions the set up fails so I have ended up manually opening up the 3 ports and I can have remote access at will. I am using a LINKSYS WRT54G with firmware version V8.00.6 purportedly with uPNP enabled. I also have a Vonage IP phone gateway between the router and the cable modem as per Voneage's installation instructions. I am using Earthlink as my ISP with TIme Warner providing physical connectivity. Does anyone have experience with a similar set up?

    Thanks

  • WHS (either version) can only configure 1 router between it and the internet so if you have more, you will have to configure manually, which you seem to have successfully done. Note that WHS2011 only needs Port 443 (https://) and optionally Port 80 (http://) - Port 4125 is only required for WHS1.

  • Wondered if the Vonage GW was the problem. Never saw a similar set up in any of the forums but then how many people have Vonage and WHS.

    Thanks!
