error upgrading archiving database from Beta -> RC (-> RTM)? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When we tried to migrate our Archiving server from Public Beta to Release Candidate with replace any existing databases option unchecked we got the following error:

Failure [0xC3EC7869] Setup found an older version of the Office Communications Server database. You need to drop this database before continuing. Either use SQL tools or run 'cscript.exe dbsetup.wsf /drop /sqlserver:value' (dbsetup.wsf  is included with the Setup package). To preserve data, apply the import/export procedures described in deployment document.

However I couldn't find any reference to the import/export proceedures for archiving server in either the OCS_PublicBeta_RC_Migration.doc (or RC - RTM), OCS_Archiving.doc, or OCS_EnterpriseEditionDeployment.doc documents..

So for the RC release we just chose to overwrite the DB - but would prefer not to need do that for our RTM..

Has anybody been able to successfully upgrade their RC archiving servers to RTM without having to check replace any existing databases? If so how did you do it?

  • Upgraded our archiving server lastnight and fortunately this seems to have been fixed in RTM as with the option unchecked the migration was succressful Big Smile
