Office Pro 2007 failed Office Genuine Advantage Validation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased my upgrade copy of MS Office 2007 from Sam's Club several years ago, just after or about the time Vista was launched.  Because I was in the process of moving to another state, and not connected to the internet ( for several years), I did not install MS Office 2007 until recently.  I typed in the Product Key during installation and thought all was fine;  but upon opening work, powerpoint, etc, I received the 'not a genuine MS product' message.  Following the instructions for validation, a window opened with this info:

    Microsoft Office Professional 2007

Problem: The validation process could not be completed because a copy of Microsoft Office® on this computer has not been activated.

    Solution:

    Activate Office now

Start any Office application. The activation wizard will walk you through the steps required to activate Office. You will need to provide a genuine product key. For additional instructions, or if you have problems activating Office, visit knowledge base article # 828958. To learn more about the benefits of product activation, visit the How to Tell site.

So, per instructions, I opened Word, Word Resources, and clicked the Activate MS Office button, and it says "This product is already activated."

I do not know if it makes any difference, but this is the first time I have installed an upgrade that didn't require that I insert the CD from my previous version.

  • Hello mochadiva,

The report is telling us that you have two installations of Office 2007 on your computer.  There is a nongenuine Volume Licensing installation of Office Enterprise 2007 that was done with a now-blocked Volume Licensing Key, and the not-yet-activated retail licensed installation of Office Professional 2007.

To get Genuine, you will have to uninstall the nongenuine Office Enteprise 2007 installation.  This can be accomplished in the Programs applet of the Control Panel.

Once you uninstall Office Enterprise 2007, restart the computer twice, then open an Office Professional 2007 program such as Word.  You should immediately be presented with the Office Activation Wizard.  Please activate Office Professional 2007 normally online, then restart the computer.

After restart, and keeping Office programs closed for the moment, please visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on the Validate Office button.  Office Professional 2007 should validate normally.  Restart once more.

After restart, open several Office programs to see if you no longer receive nongenuine notices.

Please post back to let us know how you do :-)

  • That fixed it!  My Office Pro 7 is now authenticated and validated.  I have no idea where the Office Enterprise Edition came from . . . What is it?  I think MS  Works was pre-installed on the computer, but maybe it was Enterprise.

Thank you for the easy to follow, precise instructions.
