stolen laptop RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello folks,

My laptop was recently stolen and I'm wondering if it's possible to dis-activate that copy of xp so that the person who stole it can no longer use it.  I know I'll never get the computer back but it would be nice to be able to at least block usage of my copy of xp.

    Thanks

  • Microsoft cannot disable your copy of Windows XP.  The license was stolen with the laptop.  File a claim with your insurance company.

  • Is it possible to report the key as stolen so that it can't be updated?  I'm not actually insured which is one of the reasons it'd be nice to at learst make the theif's life a bit more painful.
