WHS connector software works with XP but get failures with Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Loaded the VAIL beta...no problem.  Used WHS connector on XP machines again no problem.

Attempted to use the WHS connector software with Win & 64 and it fail every time.

Times on server and client match..(used PST settings in BIOs).  Can load the Connector software to my Win 7 desktop and start to run but when I get to the point where I enter my server password it craps out...???

  • Hello Mike,

Thanks for trying out Vail. There's not enough information in your question to know what is going on unfortunately. The best thing for us is if you could capture both server and client computer logs using the log collector (see the release notes for more on that tool) and fiel a bug on Connect.

You can also post more information here as a follow up so that we and the community might help out to get the Connector successfully installed.

  • I have a similar problem, the connector installs on XP Pro SP3 but not on Win 7 Enterprise Eval (tried on two very different PCs).  In my case the installation accepts the password and even gets as far as putting icons on the desktop for the Launcher, Dashboard and Shared Folders but then encounters an unexpected error and rolls back.  I will try the log collector.

  • I had no issue running XP MCE XP pro, Vista 32 ultimate and win7 Ultimate I would make sure you are an admin you make sure the downloaded file is not "blocked"  right click the file and see if the unblock button is there?

  • I submitted feedback to Connect with the log collector output, but it was closed as "Fixed in this version or the next" but no detail was given.

I tried it on an iMac that had many things installed (including .NET 4).  Incase it was conflicting with something I also tried it on a clean install of Win 7 Ent Eval (English) on a P4.  I can't find a way of changing the langauge from English to English US, but I have tried changing all regional settings to US.  I also tried turning off the Win7 firewall and UAC.

It works on XP no problem, so I can't see that reinstalling Vail would help.

I'm not sure what you mean by "bloacked" komondor, as the connector software install is running, just not completing.  I also tried saving it locally and running it as admin.
