How To Record A Mutual Fund Share Exchange In Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Vanguard fund that recently performed a fund exchange from Investor Shares to Admiral Shares:

    192.307 investor shares ( $21,2730 ) to 192.255 admiral shares ( $21,2730 )

How can I record this transaction in Microsoft Money and still retain my cost basis, gains calcuation, etc.  Normally I would do a stock/fund split, but as you can see the spit is 0.999729599

This is fund which I have but tracking with Money for 8 years :(

  • Split the shares 51761 shares for every 51775 shares
The error factor is a negligible 0.200978345077374 parts per Billion. Change the name and symbol for the security.

If the fund is only held in an IRA, you could just enter a buy and a sell for the same dollar amount. The performance tracking would start fresh.
