What is the Organization name to do login programmatically.. RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi All,
    we are using java to connect ms crm 4.0

    there are  3 types of deployment right.
    • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 - On-premise deployment
    • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 – Internet-facing deployment (IFD)
    • Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online

    To login programmatically to all these, We need these three inputs from user: hostname(no need this for Online.), username, password, ..ok.
    But in the sample code given in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc151012.aspx , its using

    if (orgDetail.OrganizationName.Equals("AdventureWorksCycle"))

        {
            orgInfo = orgDetail;
            break;
    }
    what is "AdventureWorksCycle" ?  we also need this information from user to login ? If so, where we can find this info in CRM

  • when you install crm for new organization that organization gest added in to CRM Deployment Administrator.  this is tool which will be installed as part of CRM Installation on Server...

    so if you can go server and have access to this tool then you can find the details from this tool as well..

    you link http://www.cwrmobility.com/Default.aspx?tabid=93  also got some screen print of CRM 3.0 Deployment Manager so CRM 4.0 have similarly Deployment administrator..

  • AdventureWorksCycle is example organisation used in this pseudo code...

    your organation name would be different so loop through each orgDetails for first time to find your relevant Organisation name and then use it..

    you can also find your organization name in Deployment Administrator....

  • thanks Mayankp..
    I just go through this http://www.cwrmobility.com/Default.aspx?tabid=93

    So for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online , user can easily get the organization name from the url, and we can use itin our application..

    What about IFD, On premise ..

    "you can also find your organization name in Deployment Administrator.... "  where is the Deployment Administrator in CRM , so that we can give details to the user to provide organization name from there..

    let me know where is the Deployment Manager located on to find the org name ?

    Found it..
    start->Programs->Microsoft Dynamics CRM->Deployment Manager, in that double click the Organizations folder, we will get the unique name

  • The CRM Online user can access multiple organizations and what might be the best way to allow users to change the organizations while they are logged into another organization.  So, the user wants to change the organization.  Should we ask a user name and password again along with the differnt organization?

    Thanks in advance,

  • Hello Young

    If you have already have SDK help documentation (prefered: latest version). search for the article "Web Form (IFD) Authentication". That should give you the right direction

  • I do agree with following points 1. This is Organization Name, Becuase IN CRM 4.0 we have multi-tanent environment where we have multiple / many orgnaizations working at one CRM server, so we have to specify orgnization name as well with User name and password. Becuase each organization have it's data and user sets different to others. 2. You can know all orgnization name by one of other ways. i. By Running "Microsoft CRM Deployment Manager Tool" Installed where CRM server is being configured. ii. By Code, You can simple iterate through loop. iii. By looking at your database server. For each orgnization A separate new database will creates with the name of CRM like if your orgnization name is "ABC" then you have "ABC_MSCRM" DB. I hope you can find your orgnization name by one of specified ways. Regards.
