Visual Studio 2008 and IIS 5.1 virtual directory RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I'm working on a Visual Studio 2008 solution that should create a Virtual Directory on IIS 5.1 (on Windows XP).

I use to work on my local drive (C:) and everything work fine. But now, I should migrate on a new desktop without access to C: drive and I should developp on a network share.

Of course, I now open the solution from the UNC path but the virtual directory is not correctly created. Indeed, when it is first created, I have a "access denied" error with a red cross.

To solve this error, I need to open IIS 5.1 (inetmgr) , edit the properties of the virtual directory and enter my credentials (by clicking on the "connect as" button in the Virtual Directory tab)

My question is : How can I automate this manipulation ? Indeed, I would like VS 2008 to be able to create the Virtual Directory without to manually add my credentials.

    Thanks to all

    David

  • Hi David, This is not a Project or Project Server issue. Please try one of the Visual Studio or Windows debugging forums. Thanks, --Jim

  • Hi Jim,

    Thanks for your advice.

Could you indicate me where can I post my issue ? Indeed I've posted it several times and each time, I'm told that it's not the good forum and it seems that I can't find the good one ...

Thanks by avdance for your help

    David

  • Good question. You can browse the list of forums at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/. A quick scan didn't pop out anything obvious to me. Maybe search in Where is the forum for...? forum.
