PROBLEM: Can't switch from using an XML file to a Meta Tag RRS feed

  • Question

  • When first submitting my website I was given a pre selected choice of adding an XML file to my website or a Meta Tag to my homepage. Beneath the selection was the sentence "We'll explain later." The XML file is messing up my page and there is no "we'll explain later" way to go back and get the Meta Tag.

The biggest problem with accepting the default selection on an XML file is the user number shows up as readable HTML text on the web page. Now that I know what an XML file is I would really prefer to use a Meta Tag now because it won't show up as readable text to visitors of my website.

HOW DO I GET A META TAG TO USE WITH THE WEBMASTER TOOLS?

    The XML file sucks.

    Thanks for the help, Questioner3000

  • So that we understand each other, you added the xml code to a new file and named it LiveSearchSiteAuth.xml? There should be no reason why this file is corrupting your home page. HOWEVER,

to use the Meta Tag option, you must delete your site from the tools and resubmit it. It will then give you the option for the xml file or meta tags.
