I have Microsoft Office Xp Standard for Teachers and have lost the CD Drive. I have the original software with my product key but cannot access it because the drive is just gone. I have loaded all updates via the Internet but still cannot access the drive. Any ideas? Last time I played a movie or CD was probably in January so I'm not sure when it disappeared. Computer is a laptop that is pretty much connected to wirelass 24/7.
Please go to Start > Run and type in: devmgmt.msc and press the Enter key. After the Device Manager window opens, scroll down to your DVD/CD-ROM drives, click the "+" to expand, then right-click on your CD Drive and select Uninstall. You will be prompted to reboot your computer, so reboot and Windows XP will reinstall the CD Drive.
