2 websites and Sitemap's on same server RRS feed

  • Question

    I have 2 websites

the first one has been working for 5+ years

the second one went live jan 31 2008

I submitted the sitemap for each site.

the information for selectfavors is not included in the first sitemap (jordanalmondflowers)

based on the directory information provided have I done the right thing?

as of now the selectfavors site is not being picked up by MSN or Live Search

    /jordanalmondflowers/robots.txt (with no exclusions)

    /jordanalmondflowers/selectfavors/robots.txt (with no exclusions)

    any help would be great!

  • Having two or more sitemaps on the same server is not an issue.  I have three (3) and all are properly being read by all 5 major search engines.  The need for multiple sitemaps is a necessity when you've included subdomainsEach subdomain needs its own sitemap.

You can even go as far as having multiple sitemaps with multiple TYPES of sitemaps:

    • XML
    • TXT
    • ROR
    • etc.

As long as the sitemaps can validate and be read by the bot, there's no problem.  Use any varying types of sitemaps that fit your sites needs.  However, the XML sitemap an industry stardard.  Good luck,
