Sony VAIO fan question RRS feed

  • Hi Everyone,

I hope I can find some help here with this question.  I have a Sony VAIO PCV-RX550 that I installed WHS on.  It seems to be running great except the fan is constantly roaring on a high setting.  Previously, when it had XP loaded on it, the fan would spin up on high during boot up and would spin down to a quiet setting by the time it got to the login screen.  It would remain quiet unless it got extremely hot which was rare.

Is there a file in XP that controlled the fan setting?  If so, is there one for WHS that would do the same?  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

  • Have you checked the cpu usage on the whs?  I have read that there is a problem with high cpu usage, but there does seem to be a fix.
