  • Hi,

    I m wanting to gain my first Certification but i m confused by the amount of information that i can look through. At present i m 21 and working as a Software engineer for just over 2 months. i have been working with technologies like ASP.net and C# as i want to go in development field.so, as a almost beginner what would be the best microsoft certification to start with.Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

  • A good place to start is the Microsoft Learning web site: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-overview.aspx 

    Since you are a developer, the Visual Studio-track is probably your best choice. Here is an overview of the available certifications for Visual Studio 2010:


    As your primary experience is with web development, I would recommend focussing on these certificates: MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Web Applications, MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Service Communication Applications, MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Data Access (If you click on the exam on the Microsoft Learning page, you will see a list of all the covered topics and available materials)

  • thanx for your reply.....do u know any websites from where i can prepare for MCTS exam or do u have notes which are helpfull? and one more question is that if i give only first MCTS certification exam i still be called MCP?
