    I purchased a new CD to renew one care. It does not seem to update. Do I need to use a new Live ID?

    To use a retail CD to renew One Care do not create a new Live ID and do not uninstall One Care and install from the CD. Go to billing - https://billing.microsoft.com/home.aspx , sign in using the Live ID and password associated with your One Care subscription, select your One Care subscription and select "Renew this service". Select "Pre-paid PIN or Token" as the payment method and enter the 25 digit product key enclosed with the CD.

    Thank you for contacting the Live OneCare program forum. Yes, you will need to use a Windows Live ID. Or create one if you do not have one before hand.

     

    What you can do is download the trial version onto your desktop. Then, when the program is up and running and the installation is complete, open the OneCare dashboard. Next, click Activate Now. You will be prompted to enter your product key and Windows Live ID to complete the installation.

     

    Or... You can load your cd and use the Product Key and Windows Live ID when prompted to enter them in after the installation process.
