We have found an issue with one of the back end services. We have corrected it but it may take hours for the queue to clear and catch up. I'll be checking in tomorrow to see how things are looking.

Same. Recent activity shows nothing since November 5th, eventhough I've made a few posts the last couple of days.

Why do you all care ?
Points are completely valueless. You can't trade them; you can't get product discounts because of them; they are completely pointless. (Pun intended - use "meaningless" instead if you squirmed)
So what does it matter if you have to wait a few days for your point score to be increased? Nobody is going to regard you as being less valueable because of a few less points just as no-one is going to regard you as being more valuable because of a few more points.

Mike, just because they are pointless *giggle* to you, doesn't mean they are pointless to everyone. I know for some, they are the only "recognition" they get for answering around here. And it's seems it's almost human nature to want to collect them. It's almost like achievements/trophies (and we all know how popular those are).
For myself, I use them as part of my yearly objectives with my company. Get x amount of points with x% of posts being rated answers. Do I think it's kind of silly? Sure... But employers love community contributions and they love it even more when they are measurable. For me it's a very easy objective.
My point is, don't dismiss them just because they don't mean anything to you. They may have no apparent meaning, but to some they do. Even if it's just that fuzzy little feeling you get from collecting something.
I'm not saying they need to be fixed today. Heck, I personally don't care if it takes three weeks. But how are they going to know they're broken if nobody says anything?

Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chaptersIf these points are valueless then why they are calculated and posted on user's profile by MS? I know you can't redeem these points and won't get any perk or gift from MS.
For every thing there is a reason and the reason here is that novice people trust on answers entered by users who have more flags and points. These points are just to encourage people to answer intelligent responses. To give a virtual pat when they are marked as answer and useful.
No wrong intentions :)

That's a different issue. Look again at the Title of the thread.
Mike
P.S. I am now receiving a large stream of alert e-mails. It looks like the alert/e-mail part of the problem has been dealt with.
P.P.S. My points have jumped up too. (Oops. Did I give away the fact that I knew what they were ...... ?)
