can two instances of CRM on the same network make trouble for each other? RRS feed

  • Question

  • At a customer we set up an instance of 2013 for testing while the 2011 instance remained as production.  They are each in different VM's with separate database servers.  However, we are suddenly seeing all sorts of crazy problems.  At first we thought it was a certificate renewal, but logins started failing, SSRS reports stopped working, random SQL error messages pop up and now the Dashboards, Calendar and Activities panes in 2011 are failing with SQL errors.

Is it possible that they are colliding somehow?

    thanks

PS- first symptom was when ADFS had to be rebuilt for 2011 -- no IFD has been established for 2013 at all.

  • We are running many concurrent instances of CRM, both 2011 and 2013, both non-IFD and IFD.  We have run into no issues like this at all.  They do have separate database and report server instances as well, right?  In CRM 2011 we have occasionally run into a problem with the SPN on the CRM Server not being set correctly, so that might be something to check out.
