  • Question

  • Can you help sort this validation problem out, the office pack is a home use program pack through my employer, the pack had all geniune keys etc & tax invoice from Microsoft, followed the advised checks and as seen below it reports as geniune, I am getting really sick to death of get genuine office pop ups and warnings when it is genuine, COA is WindowsXP home edition. Dell.

     What issues am I going to have when my new laptop arrives in two weeks and I uninstall office off my old machine and then install office on my new laptop and try to validate it then?

    Your mga diagnostic report is showing your Windows XP Home installation on your Dell computer is Genuine.

    The report is also showing some Good News and some Bad News regarding Office:
    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
    Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage - 114 Blocked VLK 2
    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 100 Genuine
    OGA Version: Registered, 1.7.105.35
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-230-1

    Your computer seems to have two separate Office installations, one of Office 2007 and one of Office XP.  The good news is that Office 2007 Enterprise in Genuine, and the bad new is that Office XP is nongenuine.

    Going under the assumption that Office 2007 Enterprise is the one that is licensed for home use thru your employer, the solution to this situation should be as simple as going to the Add or Remove Programs applet in Control Panel and uninstalling Office XP Pro with Front Page.

    After doing so, restart the computer, visit www.microsoft.com/genuine, click the Validate Office button, and your Office 2007 should Validate with Flying Colors.

    Post back to let us know if that worked for you.

  • That worked great thanks. No more messages! Yay.
     In the EULA it says this;

    15. REASSIGN TO ANOTHER DEVICE. You may reassign the license to a different device any number of times, but not more than one time every 90 days.

    How will I actually do this when my new laptop arrives in a couple of weeks, I have tried searching the office help web site but so far I cannot find the actions required to change the licence to the new machine.
     Thanks for the help.

  • Mike7791,

    Happy to see that we got the validation problem fixed! :-)

    Office Activation works on the principle that the most recent installation is the active installation, and that previous installations are null and void.

    So, that means when you remove Office 2007 from the old computer (uninstall from Add or Remove Programs), then install it on the new computer, that the new installation takes precedence over the old installation.  The fact that you installed it on a new machine signals the Activation servers to no longer recognize the old installation, which would eventually be tagged as nongenuine if it were not removed from the old computer.

    I don't think you'll have a problem with it when your new computer comes in a couple of weeks, but if you do, in the Activation Wizard choose the option to Activate Office telephonically.
