need to find discussion on altering registry on another Win XP SP3 system at startup using scripts

I need to know if there is a possible way to change a registry entry on a SP3 during the boot up process using either VBS, JS, or WMI. I can't seem to clear the autochk flag in the SP3 file unless SP# is up and running. Any help would be appreciated.
