Why did changing the sub-directory solve my problem with Windows Live Writer? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Morning:

I have been using Windows Live Writer for quite some with great success and I love the program and the way it integrates everything so neatly. I tried to add two blogs of mine this morning and came across and error when trying to configure my accounts. When I looked up the error I came across the following response: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/writerbeta/thread/346e9e56-1ebc-4627-b122-321566a65c1a

I followed the suggestions to take the sub-directory out of my url and configure it directly with the http://www.sometimeparent/xmlrpx.php setting directly after the domain name. It solved my problem as well! This is fantastic! Because I love using Live Writer, I cannot help but be curious as to why this solved my problem though? This is a add-on domain with my hosted account, could this have been the problem or is it possible that it was something else?

I am just curious and would like to understand so that I can use Live Writer better in future, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
