File sync downloading too much unknown data? using up bandwidth RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have 6000 files (3.7gb) on a folder in a server and the clients need to sync with that daily.  We have put initial set of files on all the clients.  Initial sync takes 20 minutes and there was only 1 new file (430k size) on the server folder to be downloaded to the client I used for test.  Our network admin says 151MB of data was downloaded.  Is this possible from the framework? Any insights, ideas mopst welcome

    Many thanks

  • better subscribe to the File Sync Provider events to see how many files are actually being detected and applied.

i doubt is the sync metadata, there must be something else. fire up some network monitoring tool so you can see what it is or better ask your network admin how he came up with 151 mb and show you the details.

  • Thanks June.  I am planning on running a tool to monitor the network locally (my dev machine) but my test laptop connected to the client network via a VPN, I am not sure how to monitor that.  Need to do a research
