  • Hi,

Hope all are doing good. I acquired MCSA (2003 Server Management) in 2011. Currently i wish to do Microsoft certification related to server Management. What certifications should i posses now to work in a Microsoft enabled environment? Will it be advisable to do 2016 Server Management certification? Can i renew the existing 2003 Certification by taking certain number of papers of 2016 Certification? It will appreciable and helpful if you can answer.

    Thanking you

  • No, you cannot upgrade from Windows Server 2003 certification to Windows Server 2016 certification.

Usually, you can upgrade only to an adjacent newer version, for example:

from  Windows Server 2003 -> Windows Server 2008

from Windows Server 2008 -> Windows Server 2012

from Windows Server 2012 -> Windows Server 2016

Sometimes upgrade exams are available only for a limited time. If you want to achieve a Windows Server 2016 certification there is no upgrade path from Windows Server 2003.

There is MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification still very relevant in the industry.
