  • Question

  •

Hello I Installed the beta onecare 2.0 but due to memory limitations on my notebook computer I had to uninstall it.

My firewall is now controlled by group policies?? according to the firewall on/off control panel. The options are greyed out. How can I reobtain control over my firewall settings? There is no group policy editor on windows xp home edition.  Also I have tried the onecare cleanup utility but it errors out when I click the cleanup button.

  • You can contact support as this is a failed uninstall.

Or, you can try this -

Start/Run - type "regedit" without the quotes, click OK

Delete these Registry keys if they exist:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall

    \DomainProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall

    \StandardProfile \EnableFirewall=0 (DWORD data type)

WARNING - editing the registry could cause your PC to be unusable.

  • I stopped the service Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) as a temporary fix. But if I could get help I would be grateful.
