Windows 7 activation denied when reinstalling RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

My old harddrive died recently. I had to reinstall Windows 7.

When I did so however, I got this message: "The product key you typed has been blocked from use by Microsoft".

Can you identify the problem ? From what I have read, it seems it might be an MSDN key.

    Thanks.

Here is what I got from MGADT:

  • It is an MSDN key and blocked according to the message you got. If you haven't already please read the blocked keys sticky and ask any other questions here. You do have options for recieving a discount on a WGA kit, if interested and have questions ask, you can also revert to an earlier OS if you have a valid license.

Sorry to give you the bad news, let us know if we can help

    Thanks

Make sure that you buy from Amazon - not the dealers in the MarketPlace!
