Syncing multiple inboxes with the 2013 CRM Outlook Client - Possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, We use 2013 Dynamics Online and Win 8.1.

At our firm, we have 2 inboxes (ie we each have 2 email addresses with different domains) and currently MS CRM Outlook 2013 will only sync with the inbox associated with our CRM and our Office 365 account.  When trying to sync contacts, accounts, etc manually in the unassociated inbox we get the following error:

"Only items in the default Microsoft Outlook store can be promoted to Microsoft Dynamics CRM.item Name=..." The ellipse = the name of the contact, task, etc.

So, we'd like both inboxes to sync and I'm not sure where to start. A few questions:

    • Do we have to verify the domain of the 2nd inbox?
    • Can we simply add more than one organization to our CRM?
    • Do we need to purchase another instance?
    • Even if we verify the domain, does the Outlook client have the functionality to sync multiple inboxes?

Any insight would be extremely helpful.  Let me know if our situation isn't clear.

    Thanks

    Brian

  • The CRM Outlook plugin can't sync multiple mailboxes in one Outlook.

However, if you would like the other mail box in CRM, you can use the Email Router.  Then you can have the router pick up messages for that second mailbox and push them into CRM.  After the Leo (Service Pack 1) update to CRM 2013, you will also be able to use Exchange Synchronization directly in CRM to achieve the same thing without having to have a separate server just for the email router.
