Office 2007 activation with a cloned hard drive but different machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I work in a classified environment for the Govt. We have licensed copies of MS Office 2007 installed on about 20 workstations. Our Data Analysis team often travels across country to various locations to gather data during test events. What we do is take an image of the hard drive on of our workstation (we'll call it BOX A, and then travel with thehard drive to the remote location. The HD is then placed into a machine in the remote location, same model and architecture. The image of the Hard Drive works fine but MS Office will not work? Asks to be reactivated. Even when I put in the legal product key and call the phone activation line (we cannot connect over the Internet), it tells me I cannot activate it. Is the MS Office installation somehow tied to the machine it is installed on? How can I get this to work or can I?
