What is with the snowflake avatars? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know this is not a Windows 7 forum question.  But, what is with the snowflake avatars?  My eyes are not that good in the first place.  Now, with snowflakes of different colors, I am getting a headache<g>

  • I had to learn those are "identicons" (http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000774.html) and serve to identify (?) an avatar (?) better than the generic heads of before. Or something like that. By any means, it seems the snowflakes are intentionally there since the maintenance. I'm getting headaches, too.

  • Thanks for the link, but it does not work.

Regarding the identicons, I have not seen Bill.  You remember Bill, the guy with the turquoise snowflake with the square corners? Or, was it lime colored?<g>

  • I submitted this thread to  Suggestions and Feedback for the Forums:   Thanks. But those patterns give me a headache!

  • Already reported as abusive?

Had I not repeatedly nagged (and been deleted), this thread would not have been moved here.   See the link above.

    Wrong, again.

It was moved here because it is off topic for the Windows 7 forums and on topic for the feedback forum.

    Thanks for understanding.

  • Already reported as abusive again?  Very quick to snipe, but very slow to do your job, troll.

Why don't you just reinstall my deleted posts, Ronnie, so we can see the timeline.  Eh?

I think they are confusing.  Sometimes they use the same colors and are too similar.  It forces you to look at the names to follow an exchange.

    My avatar is instantly recognizable.

Btw, the correct link for reportabug is Forum Issues.  I.e. .../en-US/..., not .../en/....

URMax, you should click the links and do your homework before creating a new account to post your caustic remark.

Some people are afflicted with debilitating migraines or epilepsy.

A well known aura that precedes these debilitating episodes or seizures can be triggered by certain visual stimulus including flicker or color patterns.  Just recently, before this new software was installed, there was actually a post from an epileptic discussing this very thing.  That post includes a link to a www test page webaccessibile.org/test/check.aspx which goes to show how serious a subject this is.

I posted a reference to that epileptic person's post in this very thread.  But it was repeatedly deleted:

Some of those colors/patterns are known to provoke ocular migraine auras and worse.  See the OP and link in this thread: Win 7 RC and RTM

On the other hand, some of those patterns are very pretty.  The developers tried to make something nice for us.  Thanks! ...but it gives me a headache!

Notice that Ronnie moved this thread to this forum nearly 20 minutes after I had already started the new thread here in exasperation.

Well.  This post got Reported as Abusive.  I think it was done by a cowardly troll who posted above with a brand new alias profile.

Someone fix this post.  It has an unclosed <strong>, without the closing </strong>.

This makes the rest of the page BOLD.
