WWT and Surface Tablet RRS feed

  • Question

  • Several weeks ago I tested WWT 5.0 on a windows 8 surface tablet running windows 8.0. This worked well enough that I decided to buy my own brand new surface tablet, which is also running microsoft 8. However, when I try to install WWT 5.0, I get an error message : "This installation is not supported by this processor type'. It looked like the specs of this tablet should work:

    • NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad Core CPU/GPU
    • 2GB RAM, 64GB Storage
    • 10.6" Touchscreen (1366x768)
    • Windows 8 RT + Office 2013 RT
    • Upgradeable to Win 8.1 RT

To my knowledge this was not encountered during the previous installation. How do I fix this? Googling suggests this error is related to a 64bit vs 32bit operating system (I'm running 32bit), but the WWT online documentation says WWT 5 should work on 32 bit.

    Thanks for your help!

  • I'm informed that:

"The Desktop version of WWT requires an Intel processor and a full version of Windows, which is the one used in the Surface Pro line.  The Surface (without the "Pro") runs Windows RT on the Tegra processor and can't run it."
