Mesh Update through Microsoft Update? RRS feed

    I've just installed an update for Live Mesh through Microsoft Update.  I thought that Live Mesh has its own updating mechanism.

    I guess I just find it odd because there wasn't a mention of an update for the Windows client of Mesh nor a mention that Microsoft Update would be used as Mesh's updating mechanism.

    The update was: "Live Mesh: Remote Desktop Service amd64 v0.9.3424.9 (MSI)"

    Will the Mesh now be receiving all its updates through MU or was it just a one off?

    Hi,

    The Live Mesh team mentioned that a Windows update was coming this week (see: http://blogs.msdn.com/livemesh/archive/2008/12/04/service-update-december-4-2008.aspx).

    As for updates - I was under the impression the Live Mesh, like most MS applications, could be updated via Microsoft Update (if you look through the files you'll find the following MU related files:

    MUAuth.cab - includes "Authorization.xml" which provides IDs for MU
    muv3muredir.cab - which includes a wuredir.xml which seems to redirect updates via test servers
